International defense show opens in Belgrade
The Third International Weapons and Military Equipment Show kicked off here Tuesday, drawing together Serbian and overseas foreign-purposes arms industry manufacturers.
Serbian Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac, who opened the show, was confident the event would aid the development of the domestic economy.
Sutanovac said the Defense Ministry would not only “support the potentials of the domestic defense industry” but also attract foreign investors to Serbia to work with national industry representatives on new projects.
The show, which will end on June 29, has been organized by Jugoimport-SDPR, a state-owned Serbian company specializing in military technology, and sponsored by the Defense Ministry.
A total of 63 firms from Austria, France, Finland, Slovenia, Spain and Serbia will exhibit arms and military equipment.
Jugoimport-SDPR officials said the show is of regional importance and aims at establishing business contacts.
