Qatar’s emir visits Greece for trade deal, energy
The emir of Qatar, Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, met with Greece’s political leadership Wednesday and the two countries signed a trade cooperation deal.
The emir, accompanied by the ministers of foreign affairs, energy and finance, met with Greek President Karolos Papoulias and Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis.
“These meetings are a landmark in the progress of our relations. Future prospects are very positive,” Papoulias said.
The two delegations discussed efforts to expand cooperation in energy and merchant shipping.
The emir’s three-day visit follows a trip by Papoulias last year to Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
