Turkey aims to launch a satellite reconnaicance system
Turkish air force aims to launch a reconnaicance satellite system with an 80 cm image resolution. The total cost would be some 200 million Euros and it is assumed that it will be operational by 2011. Already over the past few years Turkish armed forces send their personnel to be trained in the European space center in Torehon Spain, so as , to get accustomed with the space related technologies and tranfer know-how.
The main issue for Turkey is to create a system of space reconnaicance that will include satellite equiped with radar capabilities, therefore able to detect any kind of target and under any climate conditions. The whole project would most certainly cost more than it is estmated and it is very difficult to be constructed without outside assistance from either USA or EU that already operate these kind of systems.
