China approves new surface-to-surface missiles for export

China National Precision Machinery Import & Export Corporation (CPMIEC) has revealed it is to offer two new surface-to-surface missiles (SSMs) for the export market.Both the B611M and the P12 are transported and launched from a wheeled chassis for greater strategic mobility.

Indonesia and Singapore close to finalising details of defence accord

Defence officials from Indonesia and Singapore were due to meet on 7 May to finalise details of a bilateral Defence Co-operation Agreement (DCA), which was concluded recently. The DCA was signed in Bali, Indonesia, on 27 April to formalise longstanding defence ties between the two neighbouring countries
BAE begins Saudi Storm Shadow tests

BAE Systems has started flight testing the MBDA Storm Shadow cruise missile as part of its Tornado Sustainment Programme (TSP) upgrade for the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF).MBDA has never announced a Storm Shadow sale to Saudi Arabia, but has confirmed that it is among a package of weapons on offer for the TSP contract.Previously, the UK’s Defence Export Sales Organisation (DESO), responsible for all defence equipment negotiations with Saudi Arabia, has forcefully denied any plans to supply Storm Shadows to the kingdom.

UK prepares to deploy updated MLRS to Afghanistan

A major milestone in UK battlefield fire-support capability will be passed in June when the first Royal Artillery troop of updated M270B1 multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS) fire units, adapted to fire precision-guided munitions, becomes operational in Afghanistan.
