Bulgaria Reduces Military Participation in Bosnia

Bulgaria will reduce the number of its military officers in the Bosnia and Herzegovina, country’s defence minister announced at the Thursday meeting of EU member states’ ministers.

Minister Vesselin Bliznakov said the 29 officers from the Bulgarian platoon in Bania Luka will return home by the end of March.

Bulgaria will continue its participation in the ALTEA operation in Sarajevo with an infantry of 120 soldiers.

The country currently contributes for the development of administrative capacity by preparing military personnel. Bulgaria also participates in the UNMIK forces and K-FOR with a total of 42 military officials.

Bulgaria will further collaborate with NATO on the ISAF mission in Afghanistan, Bliznakov said.
