Developments in the airlines industry

Lufthansa has ordered new aircraft worth some 7 billion Euro. Those include the Boeing 747-8 and Airbus A340-600 Types. This is being done in order for the German company to replenish its airfleet and at the same time expand its activities in Asian states. The new airplanes have capabilities of long distance flights without stops.

Also Austrian airlines has started -11 Dec.- the flights between Vienna and Erbil in Northern Iraq, which is currently the De Facto capital of the Kurds. Austria is the homeland of a large Kurdish community and the latest move of Austrian airlines will boost its share in the M. Eastern market. The company flies also in Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iran and United Arab Emirates. The aims of the Austrian airline is to extract a large share of the flights between M. East and Europe that are expanding considerably the last few years and will continue to do so in the foreseable future.
