Citigroup Expands Business In Serbia

Citigroup Inc. announced plans to expand its business in South Central Europe.

The New York-based bank will open a representative office in Belgrade, Serbia, that will offer a range of corporate and investment banking products and services to financial institutions as well as corporate and public sector businesses.

Citigroup is already operational in several South Central European nations such as Greece, Romania, and Bulgaria. William Mills, chairman and chief operating officer of the bank’s corporate and investment banking arm, believes Serbia is a key market for Citigroup in the region because of its growth potential and geopolitical position.

Italian bank Banca Intesa SPA and Paris-based Credit Agricole SA are two of the 40 banks operating in Serbia, most of which are based overseas.
